Article Article Intro
A Chicago restaurant gave away 1 ;000 coffee mugs with its name imprinted on them. The cost? Less than $1 ;500. Great advertising... and it was cheap advertising. Every day up to 1 ;000 potential MLM CUSTOMERS would see their advertising while they drank their morning coffee. Maybe their potential MLM CUSTOMERS would think: "Hmmm. Wonder where my spouse and I could go to dinner tonight?" Since many restaurants have a food cost of about 33% ; let's do the math. The restaurant would have to sell about $2 ;250 in food to break even. That's about 200 meals or only 100 couples visiting the restaurant only one time. Reality? More than 100 couples came into the restaurant. Often they would bring their friends. And many of the couples became regular repeat MLM CUSTOMERS.

Yes. The money kept flowing in. But what does this have to do with Dave Feldman? Dave is a long-time friend who moved to Florida. Recently I received a package in the mail. Guess what was in the package? A coffee mug with a picture of Dave and me. Below our picture it says:

Big Al and Dave MLM Friends Forever
So out goes the restaurant mug and now I use the mug with our picture. And I think of Dave daily. Sneaky ; but effective marketing. Everyone uses mugs. Some people drink coffee or hot chocolate and other people use the mugs to store pencils or grow a small plant. And all these mugs could have your special message or picture. What can you put on your special mugs? You could advertise your opportunity ; products or services. Imagine the following statements imprinted on your mugs along with your telephone number:
  • "Why not be your own boss?"
  • "Get cheap long distance rates!"
  • "Time for a career change?"
  • "Am I being paid for what I am worth?"
  • "Next time ; I'll pick my vacation time."
  • "Beautiful ; younger-looking skin in just 17 seconds."
Or you can get creative:
  • "Thanks for helping me with my business." (Add your picture.)
  • "Tired of commuting?" (Put this on a no-spill travel mug your prospects can use in their cars.)
  • "Lose weight while you drink." (Maybe you sell thermogenic coffee or weight-loss tea.)
Put your entire compensation plan on the side of a giant latte mug. Prospects love those really big mugs. You've watched the show ; Friends ; right? Those 15-ounce mugs are massive.

The real lesson here is that you should try to promote your business inexpensively by creatively getting your name ; products ; services and opportunity in front of qualified prospects.

Why fight with competitors by spending big bucks on display ads ; e-mail lists ; mailing services ; etc. when you can have all of your prospect's attention to yourself? You don't have to fight on a crowded playing field. Create your own exclusive playing field. So don't just think coffee mugs. Think: "Where else can I have my prospect's total attention?" Here are some ideas for your promotional ads to get you started:
